One Month In... OH SO SWEET!

We just wanted to THANK all of our wonderful visitors and customers for the first month of success at our new bakery in Boardman!

My wife and I are simply amazed (and humbled) by the outpouring of enthusiasm, support, and business since our doors opened exactly a month ago today.

We look forward to serving you all for years to come, and are always looking to improve. Please let us know what we are doing well... and how we can make your experiences better if there is anything we fall short on.

Thank you, one and all!

Sincerely,
Devin Bennett -- Co-Owner, Clarencedale Cake

OUR GRAND RE-OPENING: June 2nd!

Well... it's been a long-time coming, but I think we can finally announce our Grand Re-Opening will be on June 2nd, 2009!

We need the rest of May to finalize things (get our storefront sign made/installed... get our new business cards and brochures re-printed with the new address... yadda yadda)

2009 should turn out to be our biggest and best year YET... thanks to the kind customers who have supported us through the years. Ellen and I cannot believe how big this little dream of ours is becoming -- considering it all began out of the top of our little duplex on Clarencedale Avenue in Youngstown in a cramped, hot-as-Hell kitchen in the fall of 2005.

It just goes to show that with a LOT of hard work, dedication, and attention to detail, you can achieve a lot.

Thank you all... and we look forward to serving you for many years to come (starting this June!).

OUR NEW SHOP!

We are in the final stretch of bringing everything up-to-code and launching our "Grand Re-Opening" -- hopefully in early May. It sure is a daunting task to get prepped and ready for the public, especially at the beginning of what promises to be our CRAZIEST WEDDING SEASON EVER. Thank God we have the new place to work in... our old shop got very small.

There are only a few things we need to resolve before going full-tilt. I'll write more once that becomes a reality.

Keep on Cakin',
Devin

THE APPLICATION IS IN…

My wife and I have been joking about wanting to do a “Cake Challenge” for years. And likewise, customers have wondered when we would go for it. Well… it looks as though our time in the national spotlight may be approaching! A couple weeks ago, Ellen received an interesting phone call from a woman claiming to be a producer from a popular cable network. She came across our website… loved what she saw… and wanted us to submit an application (and video) for an upcoming Cake Challenge pilot! We’re still trying to wrap our brains around the idea. The deadline to submit the materials is April 17th. So we put together a video spot, and created a sculpture cake as an example of the type of work we put out (the cake came out GREAT – based on Aesop’s Fable, The Lion & the Mouse/Thorn… or whatever it’s called. Only time will tell whether we’re accepted into the challenge or not. If we are, the network will fly us both out to LA sometime in May for a couple of days to compete. We’ll keep you all posted as to what happens with this – could be very exciting!!!
